May 24th, 2016 General Primary, presented by Director Bailey

Director Bailey gave updates on the May 24, 2016 General Primary. She highlighted the Richmond County early voting results so far, broken down by precinct.

Director Bailey discussed a document that shows all of the early voting numbers for all of Georgia’s 159 counties, highlighting the top five counties.

Member Barbee: What’s the number of registered voters in Richmond County?

Director Bailey: About 95,000 but there are still voter registrations coming in from the state.

Director Bailey noted that there’s no update on the voting equipment. They are waiting on Colorado to update the equipment. The board has done everything they need to have done.

Update on High School Voter Registration in April

The Deltas (Delta Sigma Theta Sorority) and the board of elections recently collaborated to conduct high school voter registration. Participation at one high school was 0, only because there was a field day and students were out. In April there have been a total of 441 student voter registrations.

Member Dicks wanted to know if there’s a way to track how the schools are doing online voter registration, and Director Bailey said she didn’t know or she didn’t think there was a way to do that online.

Member Dicks also suggested a contest to get more people to register online.
