Douglas County Board of Elections Meeting 03/12/20

  1. Early voting started March 2; a new senior center site started for early voting March 9; four more locations will open March 14, 2020
  2. Staff and board chair taped a public service announcement about the election process that will air on the public access channel
  3. Coronavirus protocols have been formulated for voting sites
  4. Two cases were brought up by the executive director
  1. On February 10, the Secretary of State’s office held a hearing on complaint by voter David Sims who claimed he was given wrong ballot. Douglas County elections director Milton Kidd said they submitted signed statements by Mr. Sims stating he had received the ballot he requested. Sec. of State did not find for Mr. Sims, but they did send a letter to Douglas County stating they should take measures to ensure voters get the ballot they request. 
  2. Applicant Darryl Smith submitted multiple applications with different names. A hearing was held last month by the board and they disqualified the application. He has submitted another application. The board discussed the matter and reaffirmed their earlier disqualification.
  3. The board was in executive session for about ten minutes.
