Oconee County Board of Elections Call for Special Election in November

The Oconee County Board of Elections called for a special election to take place in November to fill a vacancy of Post 3, due to the passing of Bubba Wilkes. The following includes brief notes taken by a Peanut Gallery volunteer as a public service only. Contact the Oconee County Board of Elections for questions or official information.

Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, the meeting will be held on Facebook Live with Board Members calling in

Board Members in attendance Jay Hanley, Doug Hammond, Ken Davis, Kirk Shook

 

Our first item is the approval of the from 2-4-20 meeting minutes. Minutes approved.

 

The next item on the agenda is the Call for a Special Election. Due to the recent passing of our dear friend Bubba Wilkes, it’s necessary to hold a special election to fill the vacancy of Post 3 of our Board of Commissioners to replace him on Nov. 3. Qualifying for Post 3 is August 17-19 8:30am – 4:30pm at the Board of Elections office. Qualifying fee $638.50.

 

Is there there any discussion on the call for a special election? None. Is there motion for the special election on Nov. 3 for Post 3?.. Jay Hanley made a motion. Ken Davis seconded. Motion passed

 

The call for a special election will be published in the April 16 edition of the Oconee Enterprise
