Meeting Notes:
- A motion has been passed to create a BOE voter education advisory council. The council’s purpose is to empower, educate and engage Chatham County citizens in the election process. It will partner with nonprofit nonpartisan entities and organizations.
- The following voting locations will be unavailable during the 11-3-20 election:
- The Pooler Municipal Building
- Legacy at Savannah Quarters
- The Oaks at Pooler
- Antwan Lang: Why were people told on election day that they had already voted when they hadn’t? What will we do to keep this from happening again in the future?
- Russell Bridges: If a person had already voted early in person then that vote has already been cast and cannot be taken back. If a person submitted their absentee ballot and the registrar already received it then that vote has been cast and cannot be taken back. If a person never received their absentee ballot, mailed back their ballot but hasn’t been received yet, if they left the ballot at home or if the voter brings the ballot with them on election day then the voter can explain this to the poll manager and will be able to vote once it has been cleared up by the poll manager.
- We processed 30,00 ballots for June, 8000 for August and we expect 60,000 to 100,000 ballots for the 11-3-20 election.
