Hart County Board of Elections and Registration Minutes 08/17/20

Board Members Present:

Election Coordinator:

Agenda Approved:

  • Ronda made a motion to approve the agenda
  • Joey seconded
  • All approved

Minutes Approved:

  • Joey made a motion to approve the April minutes
  • Ronda seconded it
  • All approved

Chairman Report:

  • Garry commented on phone line issues on Election Day and possible solutions.
  • He also explained the use of extra staffing during elections due to increase of absentee ballot requests and returned ballots.
  • He complemented all the poll workers, staff and employees for making the August Runoff a success.

New Business:

  • Elections Recap (July June 9 & August 11)
    • Elections Coordinator gave a recap of Election Day, Advance Voting, and Absentee by mail voting numbers
  • August 11, 2020 General Primary Provisional Ballots
    • Joey made a motion to accept the 2 provisional voters that were cast with the reason of Out of Precinct
    • Ronda seconded it
    • All in favor
  • Advance Voting Polling Place
    • Joey made a motion to make move Advance Voting to accommodate social distancing per approval of facility.
    • Four locations were recommended and ordered by preference.
    • Ronda seconded
    • All approved
  • Voter Education
    • It was agreed that the local legal organ, and two local radio stations be given all election information for publication or announcements.
    • Garry made a motion that poll workers refer voters to sample ballots posted in the precincts for questions concerning candidates and/or party choices.
    • Poll workers will be trained on this policy.
    • All in favor

  • Motion to adjourn by Joey at 10:32am

  • All approved
