DeKalb holds off certifying election results

During the special-called meeting Tuesday afternoon, The DeKalb Board of Elections chose not to certify the May 24 election results.

During the meeting, Elections Director Keisha Smith said “I am not confident that what I have today is what I want to present to this board for certification.” The reasons cited were various technical issues during the county commission race, prompting a hand recount that took place over Memorial Day Weekend.

The next meeting regarding certification of this race will be Thursday, June 3rd at 5:00 pm.
