Top Three Takeaways from 5-31-20 Meeting
Newton County received 15,770 absentee ballot requests by 5-10-20. In a usual election, the board receives about 200 – 300 absentee ballot requests.
There is an Absentee Ballot Drop box at the Newton County Administration Building, 1113 Usher Street, Covington, Georgia 30014 at the side entrance of the building. The drop box is for completed Absentee Ballots for the June 9, 2020 election.
The Newton County Board of Elections and Registration voted to close the Porter Library polling location on 5-11-20. They plan to advertise the closure in the newspaper, their website and the Secretary of State’s site.

Newton County Advance Voting
The board is looking to close the Porter Memorial Library polling location because of reduced need due to the volume of absentee ballot applications they have received.
If they close the location, the board will have to advertise about the closure. They plan to do this through the website and local newspaper as well as on the Secretary of State’s site.
A motion was made and passed to close this location.
