2021/2022 Board of Elections Chair is Patricia Featherstone and the Vice-Chair is Keith Rustin. There are no new board members. The same board members are serving but in different board responsibilities.
An issue of a possible conflict of interest was expressed in family members of board members serving as volunteers. There are board members whose spouses are current volunteers during voting seasons. The motion to disqualify family members of the board members serving as volunteers was denied.
Absentee ballots: no distribution of absentee ballots can be given out randomly as in times past. The person must request them.
Drop boxes: Boxes will be stationed inside the board of elections building and accessible ONLY during business hours.
Program implementation: If a person has not voted in the past nine (9) general elections, information will be sent to the voter for verification. If the requested information is not received in 40 days, the person will become ineligible to vote. The person will have to register. If a person has not voted in the past five (5) presidential elections, information will be sent for verification. If the requested information is not returned in 40 days, the person will become ineligible to vote and must register.
There are new restrictions in place for voters who reside in a nursing home.
Youth poll workers: Youth poll volunteers must have a recommendation from their political party and school before participating.
Anyone who is a convicted felon is ineligible to vote.
The county is looking to establish a department for Election Poll Managers and workers.
