Felon hearings—T. Green reported there were no felon hearings.
Office operations
Staff reported the following:
? They are working on a voter registration backlog of about 1,800 persons. They will be able to
remove the backlog after they complete redistricting in Villa Rica.
? They are contacting previous poll workers about their availability in upcoming elections.
? They are verifying their inventory to make sure they will have the supplies and equipment they
will need for upcoming elections.
? The primary dates were announced.
Old business
? Staff reported they are updating their training material for poll workers, reflecting changes in
equipment and procedures.
? Staff announced voter registration training is available. Interested persons and entities can
contact the office for scheduling.
? Staff reported for this year’s election, there will be a mayor’s race and two council seat races in
Douglasville; and two council seats in Villa Rica.
New business
? Staff reported the state is implementing a new policy related to cell phones at polling places.
? Staff reported the Secretary of State’s Office will require new polling pads for checking in voters.
The new devices will make it possible to monitor voting locations in “near real-time.”
Executive session
The board went into executive session to discuss a “non-voting legal matter.”
These meetings are open to the public by Georgia law.
