Douglas Board of Elections Meeting 2/16/2024

Members present: Myesha Good (chair), Chad Word, Kevin Evans, Michele Crochetiere
Director: Milton Kidd

Director Milton Kidd summarized the results for the 10 Douglas County precincts involved in the Feb 13 special election for Senate District 30. Overall, he said a candidate received over fifty percent of the
votes. The board voted to certify the results.

Kidd announced that the District 3 Commissioner has resigned. The Probate Judge called for a special
election to fill the seat on May 21, 2024. The call included qualifying dates and fees. The board voted to
approve the special election on May 21.

Kidd read a letter requesting that the board investigate sheriff candidate Cyrus Colley. The letter claimed he does not meet the residency requirements. Kidd said they consulted with legal counsel who informed them that the challenge is premature because qualifying for this race has not been completed. The board voted to deny the request because the challenge was not timely.
Crochetiere asked when the challenge could be made. Kidd said within 10 days of the date the candidate qualified. Qualifying is March 4 to March 8.
