Butts County Board of Elections Meeting 01/26/21

STATE OF GEORGIA

COUNTY OF BUTTS

The Butts County Board of Elections and Registration held a Regular Public Meeting at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 26, 2021 in the Butts County Board of Elections & Registration office, 625 West Third St., Suite 5, Jackson, Georgia.  Notice of this meeting was posted in the entrance foyer of the Elections and Registration Office.  The Jackson Progress Argus was notified of this meeting.  Those present were: 

Lanson Newsome, Chair

Judy Kelly, Vice-Chair 

Dr. William Driggers, Board Member

Also attending was: Tina Lunsford, Elections and Registration Director

Not in attendance was Leslie Medlock, Board Member

1. Call to Order:

Chair Newsome called the meeting to order at 12:00pm.

2. Acceptance of the Agenda

Vice Chair Kelly called for the motion to accept the agenda as presented.  Board Member Dr. Driggers seconded. The motion carried 3-0-0.

3. Approval of the December 15^th  minutes

         Vice Chair Kelly called for the motion to accept the minutes of the December 15^th meeting.  Board Member Dr. Driggers seconded. The motion carried 3-0-0.

4. Approval of the December 23^rd Called meeting  minutes

         Vice Chair Kelly called for the motion to accept the minutes of the December 23^rd Called meeting.  Board Member Dr. Driggers seconded. The motion carried 

3-0-0.

5. Approval of the January 13, 2021 Called meeting  minutes

         Board Member Dr. Driggers called for the motion to accept the minutes of the January 13, 2021 Called meeting; Vice Chair Kelly seconded. The motion carried 3-0-0.

6. Old Business

There was none. 

7. New Business

      The Board discussed the board member terms that were up for reappointment. Vice Chair Kelly agreed to contact the City of Jackson regarding her reappointment to the Board.  There was further discussion by the Board regarding the BOC appointee Leslie Medlock. 

8. Supervisor Report

     Director Lunsford informed the Board that preparation was underway for the ESPLOST Special Election. She said the ballot had been proofed and the ballot order sent to the printer. She presented the early voting schedule to the Board for their approval. Board Member Dr. Driggers called for the motion to accept the schedule as presented; Vice Chair Kelly seconded. The motion carried 3-0-0.

12. Announcement – Next board meeting on February 23^rd , 2021

Chair Newsome announced the date and time of the next meeting.

13. Adjournment

Being no further business, Board Member Dr. Driggers called for the motion to adjourn; Vice Chair Kelly seconded. The motion carried 3-0-0.
