Office operations

  1. Staff reported they have begun updating Douglasville street and ward changes resulting from
redistricting. Once changes are made, they will mail precinct cards to voters. M. Kidd noted they
wanted to make the changes because there will be a SPLOST question on the November ballot
affecting both cities and the county.
  2. A staff person reported that staff will be taking voting and registration refresher training.
GARVIS, the new voting and registration system, will be included.
  3. Attorney A. Watson reported the board’s decision in May to dismiss a challenge to the
candidacy of Ryan Williams, who is running for the Chief Magistrate position, has been
appealed. A court hearing was held earlier in the day. The judge said she will make her decision
by 5:00 on July 15. In response to a question, Watson said there is a responsibility that her
decision will be appealed regardless of the outcome.
  4. Elections recap report—A staff member reported that the number of absentee ballots for the
    runoff has increased since 2020.
    The board adjourned at 5:19.
